Welcome back-we're glad to be back after a month off but we hope most of you are still enjoying your summer vacation! Our Young Patriots Series illustrator, Cathy Morrison, had a great time signing copies of Frederick Douglass, Young Defender of Human Rights at the annual book industry conference in June.
We had the privilege of talking to librarians and booksellers from all over the country. But the most fun of all was seeing—in person—the editor of all of the Young Patriots Series books, Harold Underdown! And here he is with Cathy and me. School will be here before you know it. So will the next Young Patriot and if you want a sneak preview, we’re offering you a “chapter a week” at no charge—see below to sign up! Until next time, Warmly, Florrie
Welcome Back to School . . .
Start the new school year off right by encouraging students to set their goals and dreams high, and let them soar! August 19th is Aviation Day, and in allowing children to research our aviation heroes and heroines, we encourage them to not only read…but to also emulate those pioneers by creating and achieving their own ambitions!
Young Patriots Amelia Earhart and Eddie Rickenbacker are two examples of aviation pioneers who let nothing stand in the way of achieving their goals. Whether it was Amelia’s enduring strength through social criticism in achieving success in young aviation history or Eddie Rickenbacker’s determination and bravery as a World War I Flying Ace in achieving the Medal of Honor—both have a unique legacy in the history of Aviation. Legacies with lessons still prevalent today.
